Winter pond updates

As the cold weather sets in, life in our ghost and restored ponds slows down.  From the surface, the ponds look bleak, but under the water plants and wildlife continue to thrive.  Winter cold snaps can be important germination triggers for some of the buried seeds and oospores within the ponds, so we might see some new species occurring in the spring.  Germinations and new plant growth have continued over-winter in the aquaria (check out the “aquaria study” section in “resurrections & restorations”).
