Resurrections & Restorations

In this section you can follow the progress of our three ghost and three restored ponds, as they are bought back to the landscape.  The ponds are grouped into pairs based on their location; each of the three farms taking part in the Ghost Ponds Project has one ghost pond and one restored pond, which are being monitored regularly.  Through careful monitoring of the ponds, combined with experiments in both the field and the lab, we hope to gain an insight into how the ponds re-colonise, whether the organisms arriving in the ponds have come from the historic seed bank or by dispersal, and how the buried seed bank of both in-filled and overgrown ponds can contribute to their regeneration.
